Big Island chamber sets small-business awards luncheon

The Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce will honor the winners of the 2007 U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Awards at a luncheon set for April 16 at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort.The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the resort's Kilohana Room. The cost is $30 for chamber members and $35 for nonmembers.
The chamber also will honor Big Island Mayor Harry Kim for his nomination to the national Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery by a Public Official. Kim was one of two finalists for the award, which was presented to Mayor Tommy Longo of Waveland, Miss.
