Public input deadline for bridge widening is Monday

Advertiser Staff

The deadline to comment on the proposed widening of the Wailua Cane Haul Bridge in the northbound direction along Kuhio Highway on Kaua'i and other traffic improvements is Monday, the state Department of Transportation said.

Also known as the Plantation Bridge, the Cane Bridge would be widened to two lanes under the new proposal and a pedestrian path would be added. The work would begin next year and reduces the bottleneck traffic currently occuring.

State officials estimate the project will take about 75 days to complete.
