City gearing up for kids' 7-week 'Summer Fun' program

Advertiser Staff

Registration for the city's 2007 Summer Fun Program will be held May 12 from 9 a.m. to noon, and May 14 and 15 from 2 to 5:30 p.m.

Honolulu's Summer Fun Program — the largest in the state — serves about 10,000 school-age children each year. The program runs seven weeks, June 12 to July 25, at more than 60 sites islandwide.

Summer Fun sessions are held weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children take part in a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, sports and games, excursions and special events.

Participants pay a $25 registration fee (waived for families receiving state aid with letter of eligibility) and up to $75 in activity fees for excursions, movies and similar events. Next month's registration will be held at more than 60 Summer Fun sites.
