MVT fund-raiser planned

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Singers Jimmy Borges, Cathy Foy, Mary Gutzi, Shari Lynn, Jim Nabors and pianist Alethea Train will perform in "Manoa Marquee: A Celebration of the Arts in Hawaii," a Manoa Valley Theatre fund-raiser with a romantic garden party theme and setting. It will be held from 4 p.m. April 29 on the grounds of the Hawaii State Art Museum.

The event will salute local arts benefactors Guy Merola and Mark Wong, founders of Commercial Data System, who both turn 50 this year. They have made significant contributions to the performing arts scene in the Islands.

Keoki Kerr and Katie Doyle, frequent stage performers, will share emcee duties. A surprise performance also is slated.

The event will feature a sushi station, assorted dim sum, seafood kebobs, baby back ribs and a carving station.

Tickets: $200 ($100 for standing room).

Reservations: 988-6131 or mvtbus@hawaii.rr.com.
