The Board of Education yesterday made Randy Moore the permanent assistant superintendent for the Office of Business Services.

Moore had held the interim position since January.

Moore, a former business executive, left his job as president of Kaneohe Ranch in 2001 to become a math teacher at Central Middle School. He joined the Department of Education's state office in 2004 to help implement Act 51, the Reinventing Education Act.

SHRIMP FARM TEST RESULTS NEGATIVE

A state quarantine order issued last week on a Kahuku shrimp farm is expected to be lifted soon after cleanup procedures and some additional testing have been completed.

Follow-up test results on Ming Dynasty Fish and Shrimp Co. are negative for the Taura syndrome virus, or TSV, which is not harmful to humans. The negative test results issued by the Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory at the University of Arizona-Tucson were from shrimp that were being raised in a second pond and the hatchery.

Agriculture Department officials yesterday said the order preventing Ming Dynasty Fish and Shrimp Co. from moving shrimp on or off the property without a permit will remain in effect until cleanup procedures and some additional testing have been completed at the farm.

HAWAIIAN CLUB GETTING TOGETHER
