Holding period for Kimo's Longboard set

The 30th Annual Kimo's Longboard Contest is nearing, with holding dates beginning April 15 through Oct. 15.

The competition will be held at Maui's Mala Wharf. Surfers will compete in 20-minute heats during the double-elimination amateur contest.

The winner will receive a new surfboard, dinner for four at Kimo's and other donated prizes.

Surfboards are required to be 9 to 11 feet long with a single fin and no surf leashes.

Contest entry fees are $30 (pre-entry) and $35 (day-of beach entry). For more information, call Jack Starr, (808) 205-9500.

CHEER808 ALL-STARS SETS TRYOUTS APRIL 14

Cheer 808 All-Stars will be holding tryouts April 14 at the club's facility in Halawa Valley near Aloha Stadium at 99-1056 Iwaena St.

The tryouts will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
