UH men's volleyball team wins 8th in a row

Lauri Hakala pounded 20 kills to help the University of Hawai'i volleyball team defeat Long Beach State, 25-30, 30-24, 30-24, 30-28, tonight in the Pyramid on the 49ers' campus.It was the Warriors' eighth victory in a row. They improved to 11-13 overall and 9-11 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The 49ers fell to 11-15 and 6-14.
The Warriors unraveled in Game 1 because of erratic passing. But Ernie Vidinha replaced left-side hitter Matt Vanzant at the start of Game 2, steadying the Warriors' passing.
It was the fourth time since 1981 that the Warriors swept a two-match series in Long Beach. The Warriors won in five games last night.
