UH-Hilo completes sweep of HPU in baseball

Michael Higa hit a grand slam and Jeffrey Germain pitched a seven-hitter as Hawaii-Hilo defeated Hawaii Pacific, 8-1, today to complete a sweep of a Pacific West Conference baseball doubleheader at Central Oahu Regional Park.

David Chu and Tyan Taiariol each added two hits and an RBI for the Vulcans (11-26), who scored six runs in the second inning. Tripper Chung had two hits, including an RBI single, for the Sea Warriors (19-18).

In the first game, Courtney Harris hit a pair of two-run doubles in Hilo's 10-3 victory. Dayne Ogawa added three hits and an RBI, and Higa contributed two hits and two RBIs for the Vulcans.

Paul Nishimura hit a pair of RBI singles for HPU.
