UH-Hilo tops BYUH, 7-6, in softball

Haunani Haasenritter hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth as Hawai'i-Hilo beat Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 7-6, today to complete a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader at the UHH Softball Field.

Leo Sing Chow hit a two-run homer for the Vulcans (32-7). Jana Dewey had three hits, including a solo homer, and Holly Bjork drove in three runs for the Seasiders (15-22).

In the first game, Sarah Weisskopf pitched a two-hitter and Vanessa Badosa had three hits and two RBIs as Hilo won, 9-1, in a game shortened to five innings. Dewey hit a solo homer for BYUH.
