Kono shoots 70 to move into second place

Stephanie Kono shot a second successive 1-under-par 70 today to move into second place in the ReBath Heather Farr Classic at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

Kono, a junior at Punahou School, trails Rachel Morris, of Carlsbad, Calif. by two strokes entering Sunday's final round. Morris shot 70—138.

Kimberly Kim, a former Big Island resident, shot 71—141 and is in third.

Chan Kim, a former Kaimuki High student, shot 70—142 and is tied for 15th in the boys division, nine strokes off the lead.

Elsewhere, Maui's Elyse Okada shot 83—161 and was in tie for 24th, 19 strokes off the lead, at the Ping Junior at Woodlands in Texas. Also, Honolulu's Kristina Merkle shot 86—172 and stood in 43rd, 30 strokes off the lead, at the Mizuno Junior at Braselton, Ga.
