Waipahu man victim of fiery Farrington crash

The victim in a fiery, one-vehicle fatal crash last night along Farrington Highway near Palehua Road was a 31-year-old Waipahu man, according to police traffic investigators.The victim's name has not yet been released.
Police said "speed was a factor" in the accident, which occurred at 10:14 p.m.
Traffic investigators closed Farrington Highway for more than two hours, reopening at 2:28 a.m.
The driver, operating a 2004 black Nissan Armada, passed another vehicle at a "high rate of speed," left the road and crashed into an electrical utility pole, police said.
The vehicle burst into flames, and the driver was dead at the scene.
It was the 27th traffic fatality of the year, compared with 25 at this time last year, police said.
