Stephen Tsai's blog report from the second week of spring practice for the University of Hawai'i football team:
The second week of practice opened with the defense getting some work. The defense was allowed to wear shoulder pads, so there was some modified hitting. Mario Cox was gang-tackled but walked away OK.
Some notes:
Greg McMackin's wife and grandson, Taylor McMackin, attended practice. Taylor was used on some defensive drills. Greg Yamamoto will have photos when his gallery posts later today.
To spice up practice during 7-on-7 drills, the defensive secondary consisted of Davone Bess and (a helmetless) Jason Rivers as cornerbacks and Ryan Grice-Mullins and Colt Brennan as safeties.
Cameron Allen-Jones received a lot of work as tight end/H-back/big body. Brennan said Allen-Jones is a good receiver.
Punahou's Miah Ostrowski attended practice.
Blaze Soares has been impressive as the strong-side linebacker.
