Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa and Hawaiian Electric Company will be signing a formal partnership charter at 11:45 a.m. tomorrow.

The signing will take place at Jefferson Hall, East-West Center on the UH-Manoa campus.

Manoa Chancellor Denise Konan and Mike May, HECO President and CEO, along with UH students, faculty, administrators and HECO executives and engineers will take part.

The partnership executive committee meets from 8 a.m. to noon.

At an October meeting, UH set goals of a 30 percent reduction of campus-wide energy use by 2012; a 50 percent reduction of campus-wide energy use by 2015 and 25 percent campus-wide use of renewable energy by 2020. By 2050, the goal is to make the UH-Manoa campus self-sufficient in energy and water use using renewable energy technology.
