World Fireknife contest set for May at PCC

Advertiser Staff

The fire and fury of the 15th annual World Fireknife Championships can be seen May 16-19 at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

For the first time, there will be two new events — Teine Toa O Samoa, or "Female Warriors of Samoa," a fireknife competition involving women, and a Warrior's Duet Fireknife Competition, pairing two dancers in a coordinated fireknife routine.

Preliminaries will be at 7:45 p.m. May 17, leading up to the May 18 semi-finals. Three finalists will vie May 19, during intermissions of the Horizons show, at 6 and 8 p.m.

Admission to the finals requires the purchase of a Horizons show ticket.
