O'ahu beats Hawai'i for state AJA baseball title, 11-5

Moku Paiva and Ricky Tahara each had three hits to help O'ahu to an 11-5 victory over Hawai'i to win the 72nd Hawai'i State AJA Baseball Championship at Wong Stadium in Hilo on Sunday. Blane Muraoka allowed three runs in seven innings, striking out three, for the victory. Sean Yamashita finished the game, striking out five batters, giving him 11 strikeouts in five

innings of pitching in the tournament.

Waipahu's Derek Costigan of O'ahu batted .500 for the tournament and was named most outstanding player.

Kaha Wong and Shaye Miura led Hawai'i with four hits each. Wong won the tournament's most RBI award, while Miura won the tournament's batting championship, hitting .714.
