Aquatic-themed art to grace park

Advertiser Staff

Four new works of public art will be unveiled by Mayor Mufi Hannemann and dedicated at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center at the Central O'ahu Regional Park at 10 a.m. today.

The new works, each of which have aquatic themes, are " 'Olapa Wai — In the Style of Water," a mural by Mark Brown; "Sea Sky Forever," a mural by John Wisnosky; "Big Pool," a painting by Mari Sakamoto; and "The Spectators," a group of three sculptures by Jodi Endicott.

The aquatic center includes a 50-meter pool with electronic touch pads and a diving well with 1- and 3-meter boards. It opened on the Mililani end of the regional park in 2003.
