Board supports more bike paths

Advertiser Staff

The North Shore Neighborhood Board is supporting initiatives to build more bike paths in its community.

In January, the board voted to seek funding from the O'ahu Metropolitan Planning Organization for a bike path on Hale'iwa and Ke Nui roads. This month, the board also requested a bike path from Three Tables in Pupukea to Hale'iwa, said Gil Riviere, chairman of the board's transportation committee.

The Hale'iwa Road pathway would be about 1.6 miles, and the one from Pupukea would be about 3.5 miles, Riviere said. If these are built, residents would be able to ride their bikes from Sunset to Waialua, he said.
