$10M gift helps state's early-education reading effort

Hawai'i's P-20 Initiative has received a $10 million gift from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to help support the goal of having every third-grader in the state reading at grade level by 2015.The donation is the largest private gift to early education in state history.
The gift will fund "Capturing the Momentum the P-3 Initiative," a project to provide coordinated efforts at community and state levels to help improve educational performance rates.
