Warren Moon arrested in drunken driving investigation

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon was arrested for investigation of drunken driving after a trooper stopped him for allegedly speeding.

Moon was stopped in downtown Kirkland, State Patrol Trooper Courtney Stewart said today.

The former Seattle Seahawks quarterback was arrested early Friday, taken to the Kirkland Police Department and later released. His vehicle was impounded, Stewart said.

The case was forwarded to King County prosecutors for possible criminal charges, said Stewart, who added the patrol is not allowed to release Moon's blood-alcohol level test.

Moon played 17 seasons and 208 games in the NFL with the Houston Oilers, Minnesota Vikings, Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs. When he retired after the 2001 season, Moon ranked third in passing attempts, completions, yardage and total offense.

Moon, who entered the Hall of Fame in August, has been an analyst on Seahawks radio broadcasts the past three seasons.
