O'ahu wins Hawai'i State AJA Baseball crown

Moku Paiva and Ricky Tahara each had three hits to help O'ahu defeat Hawai'i, 11-5, and win the 72nd Hawai'i State AJA Baseball Championship Sunday at Wong Stadium in Hilo.

Blane Muraoka allowed three runs in seven innings, striking out three, for the victory. Sean Yamashita finished the game, striking out five. He had 11 strikeouts in five innings in the tournament.

O'ahu's Derek Costigan, who batted .500 for the tournament, was named most outstanding player.

Kaha Wong and Shaye Miura led Hawai'i with four hits each. Wong won the tournament's most RBI award, while Miura won the batting championship with a .714 average.
