Advertiser Staff

Pacific rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past Hawai'i, 4-3, today in non-conference baseball at Klein Family Field in Stockton, Calif.

Mike Walker's sacrifice fly and Joe Oliveira's RBI single provided the tying and go-ahead runs for the Tigers (9-25-1) in handing the Rainbows (24-13) their second loss in a row.

Casey Neimeyer (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for Pacific in relief of starter Curtis Pasma, who went 7 2/3, allowing three runs (two earned) and eight hits with eight strikeouts.

Jayson Kramer (3-1) gave up two runs, three hits and a walk in one inning for the Rainbows.

The Rainbows took a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Kris Sanchez and when Kevin Macdonald reached safely with a runner on third on an error. But the Tigers tied it in the third on back-to-back doubles by Oliveira and Zach Chamberlain and later on an RBI single by Jason Haar.

The Rainbows took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on successive doubles by pinch hitter Jorge Franco and Justin Frash.

Hawai'i resumes Western Athletic Conference play with a three-game series at Fresno State starting Friday.
