UH business college receives $500,000 endowment

The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa has received more than $500,000 to help establish the Donald A. Corbin Distinguished Professorship in Accounting.Corbin was a Shidler professor from1961 to 1989 and continues to advise the School of Accountancy, serving on its advisory board and helping to guide the redevelopment of its curriculum.
"We're extremely grateful to all of the accounting firms in Hawai'i and individual supporters for their commitment to improving the quality of accounting education in Hawai'i," Vance Roley, dean of the Shidler College of Business said in a prepared statement. "Endowments of this nature are critical in fostering relevant research, teaching and community service at the highest level."
The Corbin Professorship is the very first endowed professorship to be established in the School of Accountancy, UH officials said.
Donors include: Ernst & Young LLP, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, KMH, Deloitte & Touche, Grant Thornton, Accuity, Hawai'i Association of Public Accountants, Nishihama & Kishida, Donald and Martha Corbin, Ross and Dayle Murakami, Henry Montgomery and Earl and Joy Fry.
