5K race on May 12 will raise money to fight MD

By Catherine E. Toth
Advertiser Urban Honolulu Writer

The sixth annual Jamba 5K Banana Man Chase is accepting entries for its race May 12 at Ala Moana Beach Park.

The race starts at 8 a.m., rain or shine.

The goal is to catch the bunch of lead runners who will be wearing Jamba banana costumes. In return, Jamba Juice will award 25 prizes of smoothies for a year, valued at $260 each, to top race finishers and first participants to beat the banana-costumed runners.

The race is a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation to fund research aimed at conquering neuromuscular disease that affects more than 1 million Americans.

Jamba Juice expects more than 800 runners and hopes to raise $40,000 for MDA Hawaii.

Cost is $25 for untimed participants, $30 for timed.

Race entries are available at all Jamba Juice locations on O'ahu or online at www.jambahawaii.com.
