Moped driver, 67, hurt in crash with SUV in Kapahulu

Police examine a moped involved in a crash with an SUV this morning in Kapahulu. The 67-year-old male rider remains in critical condition.

A 67-year-old man driving a moped collided with a sports utility vehicle this morning near Kapahulu Avenue and Mokihana Street.

The moped driver was transported in critical condition to The Queen's Medical Center, said Honolulu Emergency Service spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

All lanes of Kapahulu Avenue are now open.

The two mauka-bound lanes were closed for about two hours this morning after the 6:15 a.m. accident.

Kapahulu Avenue was closed between Mokihana and Olu streets while police traffic accident investigators examined the crash site.
