The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa has taken over operations of the city's Kuhio Beach snack bar concession next to the Waikiki police substation on Kalakaua Avenue.

The hotel said it moved its food-and-beverage operations across the street from the resort with the April 1 opening of Hyatt on the Beach.

Hyatt signed a five-year lease with the city to operate the beach concession adjacent to the Honolulu Police Department's beachfront substation.

City officials said the company was selected in a competitive bid process and will pay $10,000 a month or 32 percent of the monthly adjusted gross income, whichever is higher.

The new concession offers beachgoers choices that include plate lunches, daily lunch specials, sandwiches, breakfast, snacks, side dishes, shave ice, and beverages, including Starbucks coffee. A lunch special of roast pork or meat loaf with rice and mac salad costs $5. A beach burger costs $5, and 50 cents more gets beachgoers a cheeseburger.
