LIHU'E
Youths staging tobacco summit

Advertiser Staff

Young people ages 13 to 20 can sign up for Saturday's anti-tobacco youth summit at the War Memorial Convention Hall. The event is sponsored by REAL: Hawai'i Youth Movement Exposing the Tobacco Industry.

Organizers said participants will learn how to speak out against tobacco use, secondhand smoke and the tobacco industry's marketing tactics. The summit will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a sign-waving demonstration and party. REAL is coordinated through the Cancer Research Center at the University of Hawai'i and funded by the Master Tobacco Settlement Trust Fund. To register, e-mail Valerie_saiki@notes.k12.hi.us.
