St. Francis softball players sign national letters

Advertiser Staff

Three St. Francis School seniors signed national letters of intent yesterday to accept college softball scholarship offers.

Two-time Advertiser All-State first baseman Shannon Lum signed with Southern Utah, and All-State third baseman Sasha Koki — the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Player of the Year this past season — signed with Western Oregon.

ILH first team all-star outfielder Jandee Taira also signed with Western Oregon.

Lum, Koki and Taira helped the Troubadours earn their first Division I state tournament berth last year and their first ILH Division I title this past season.

Also participating in yesterday's on-campus ceremony was volleyball player Kylie Harrington, who signed with Nevada in November. She is a 5-foot-9 outside hitter.

Also yesterday, two volleyball players from Kamehameha-Hawai'i signed letters of intent to play for Tennessee State next season.

Precious Salazar, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, and Makena Naho'oikaika, a 5-10 middle blocker, helped the Warriors advance to the state quarterfinals this past season.

Yesterday was the first day of the spring signing period.
