Papaya ringspot virus detected on Lana'i

The papaya ringspot virus has been detected on Lana'i, according to the state Department of Agriculture.

The virus already has established a presence on O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island. It has not yet been detected on Kaua'i. The virus causes blemished fruit and eventual death of the plant. There is no cure for the plant virus.
