Nonprofits on Maui getting boost from bill

A bill-signing ceremony with Gov. Linda Lingle will take place at noon today at Lao Theater on Maui.House Bill No. 1756 (2007) provides support for nonprofit organizations and was unanimously passed by the State Legislature.
The legislation would amend Chapter 102, Hawaii Revised Statutes, by deleting the 15-year limit on county leases to nonprofit organizations, provided that the leases are approved by council resolution.
