Notional out of Derby with leg fracture

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Notional fractured his left front ankle during a gallop today and will not run the Kentucky Derby.Trainer Doug O'Neill confirmed the injury to Churchill Downs officials and wagering was suspended on Notional, owned by J. Paul Reddam.
Notional was injured during what O'Neill described as a routine gallop over Polytrack at Keeneland. Notional was scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow.
The injury leaves O'Neill with at least two major candidates for the Kentucky Derby. Reddams Great Hunter and Liquidity remain contenders for the Derby on May 5.
