Football combine for prep sophomores, juniors set

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i Athletes in Action will hold its first football combine for high school sophomores and juniors on Saturday.

The combine, which is free, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

Athletes will be tested in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, shuttle run and bench press.

Participants will be able to receive a SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) certification, according to Bulla Eastman of Hawai'i Athletes in Action. The certification allows athletes to attend NIKE football camps on the Mainland.

A free college athletics workshop for parents also is being offered.

Organizers are asking participants to bring a canned good or toiletry item for donation to the homeless veterans of Kalaeloa.

Enrollment is limited. For details, go to www.haia808.org.
