'Aiea tops Mililani in pitching duel, 1-0

'AIEA — A classic pitchers' duel today ended with 'Aiea's first hit as the game-winner with no outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Na Ali'i over O'ahu Interscholastic Association rival Mililani at 'Aiea Recreation Center Field.

Na Ali'i improved to 6-1 in the OIA's Western Division, while the Trojans fell to 7-1.

Mililani's Dustin Antolin and Joey Aquino had combined on a no-hitter through nine innings, but Ryan Murakami walked to lead off the bottom of the 10th. He stole second, then dashed home on Keenan Naeole's high-bouncing single to left field.

'Aiea starter Randy Castillo, who pitched all 10 innings and struck out 12 with two walks, received the hard-earned victory.

"My arm felt good, but my legs were cramping up," said Castillo, a 6-foot-2 hard-throwing junior right-hander who finished with 130 pitches. "I never wanted to come out; I was willing to do whatever it took to win. But I'm glad it's over."
