Help clean up Ke'ehi Lagoon Beach Park and have an adventure. Geocachers on O'ahu holds a Cache In Trash Out Day event to tidy the park starting at 10 a.m. today. Non-geocachers are welcome. The basic idea is that individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the Internet. People with hand-held GPS receivers use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. Visitors usually take something from the cache, leave something in it, and sign the logbook in the cache. They then log their "finds" at www.geocaching.com.

There will also be a potluck lunch, raffle and prizes (for things like biggest trash item collected) for participants. Other CITO events will occur on the same day around the world.

Event participants must provide their own cleanup supplies, so the event organizers are accepting donations of trash bags, gloves, shovels, rakes, T-shirts, hats, bug repellent, sun block, food and first-aid kits. To participate, call 630-7285 or 630-7286. Last year's CITO event attracted about 60 people.
