$3.7M upgrade for county lot

Advertiser Staff

The parking lot around the county's Aupuni Center complex is getting a $3.7 million makeover that includes extensive landscaping with almost 6,000 native trees and shrubs.

The project will increase parking at the center, which includes offices for the county planning, parks, public works, finance and personnel departments. The county prosecutor's office is scheduled to move into the complex this year.

The project will increase public parking and improve the sidewalks and landscaping on all sides of the center. Landscaping will include 'ohi'a, koki'o 'ula 'ula hibiscus, nanu gardenia, Hawaiian flag ti, naio papa and kupukupu ferns.
