HPU sweeps BYUH in softball

Clerisse Lemke pitched a six-hitter and Nicole Kalakau ended the game by hitting a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the sixth as host Hawai'i Pacific beat Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 9-1, today in a Pacific West Conference game shortened by the mercy rule.

Casey Sugihara and Krystal Plunkett each hit two-run doubles as the Sea Warriors (30-10, 16-2) swept a doubleheader from the Seasiders (17-28, 7-11).

Holly Bjork broke up Lemke's shutout with a two-out RBI single in the sixth.

In the opener, Sherise Musquiz and Lemke teamed on a two-hitter as HPU won, 11-0, in five innings.

Musquiz gave up two singles and struck out six in four innings.

Plunkett hit a two-run homer and RBI double, and Casey Taylor added an RBI single and run-scoring triple for HPU.
