Apprenticeship Awareness Week celebrated

Advertiser Staff

'Registered Apprenticeship Awareness Week is being celebrated throughout the week in the courtyard of Honolulu Hale with informational displays put up by members of the Job Corps.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann, a member of the U.S. Department of Labor's Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship, stated the importance of apprenticeships in a news release.

"A well trained work force is key for the future economic success of our Honolulu," Hannemann said.  "As a member of the Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao's Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship, I'm honored that Honolulu is the first and only city in the nation to sponsor an Apprenticeship Awareness Week."

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the National Apprenticeship Act.
