Design money released for new WCC library

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has released nearly $2.6 million to design a new library and learning center at Windward Community College, one of the school's top priorities, the governor's office said today.

Officials said the money will be used to create a modern library building that consolidates the existing library, media center, learning assistance and computer areas into one centrally located building on campus.

While the design money has been released, state lawmakers this session have also voted to authorize more than $20 million for future library construction. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $46 million.
