DIAMOND HEAD
Park to close for road repairs

Advertiser Staff

Diamond Head State Monument will be closed to the public tomorrow and Thursday as the state begins repairs to the entry road.

The entrance road, which is heavily used, will be rebuilt at the entry to the tunnel. Two sections of the incoming and exiting lanes into the crater will also be repaired and repaved.

In addition, the state will conduct a topographic survey for planned work to stabilize and improve the trail, survey of trailside vegetation, and do maintenance work on the summit trail.

Approximately 700 vehicles enter and exit the park daily.

The park will reopen at 6 a.m. Friday.
