Texas fugitive caught in Hilo

The U.S. Marshals Service's Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force arrested Kimball Dean Strickland, 44, yesterday at his Hilo residence on Kaunalua Street on a $35,000 felony theft warrant from Texas.

The task force received a request for assistance from Texas last week to arrest Strickland, who was wanted for posing as a roofing contractor and allegedly scamming residents during Hurricane Rita in 2005.


CRASH VICTIM WAS NON-TRAFFIC FATALITY

Honolulu police have reclassified the Jan. 1 death of 73-year-old Harry Kozuma at Luakini Street and Jack Lane to a non-traffic fatality after the medical examiner ruled that he died of a medical condition just before his car crashed.

O'ahu's traffic fatality count stood at 27 as of yesterday.
