Advertiser Staff

The mayor has released a list of organizations set to give presentations at the Kalihi Summit on April 26.

The event, which kicks off a revitalization project in the community, will be held 4 to 7 p.m. at the Farrington High School auditorium.

In addition to the mayor, who will give the keynote speech, the summit includes talks from:

  • The Kalihi Business Association

  • Filipino Chamber of Commerce

  • Oahu Worklinks

  • Honolulu Community College

  • Building Industry Association

  • Kamehameha Schools

  • Urban Land Institute

  • Farrington High School

The organizations will talk on subjects ranging from encouraging business growth to applying for grants.

"This is just one in a series of Kalihi pride events we're planning over the next few months," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

"Kalihi is one of O'ahu's oldest neighborhoods and many, many people in today's Honolulu have roots there. For many people, it was their family's first home in Hawai'i, as it was for my family."

A sampling of pupus from Kalihi eateries will be provided at the event, which is free and open to the public. The registration deadline is Monday.

To register, call 237-3678 or send e-mail info@kalihisummit.og or visit www.kalihisummit.org.
