Goodwill alerts of lotto scam in Hawai'i

Advertiser Staff

Goodwill Industries of Hawai'i is alerting the public of a new lottery scam that's using the Goodwill name.

Known mostly as "Goodwill Lotto" or "Goodwill International Lotto," individuals receive notifications via e-mail or mail from another country notifying them they've won a lottery. In some cases, a check for smaller amounts of money is enclosed with instructions to cash it and mail back part of the money and bank account information to redeem the rest of the winnings.

Scammers then use the bank info to drain accounts.
