NORTH SHORE
Highway to be closed 9-11 a.m.

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Transportation will close Kamehameha Highway near Waimea Bay for two hours tomorrow morning for work related to the April 7 rockslide.

The highway will be closed in both directions from 9 to 11 a.m. while crews scale the cliffside for additional inspections in preparation for the scheduled complete re-opening of the road next week.

City buses, emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be escorted through the area during the closure.

Work on a temporary protective fence and barrier is expected to be completed soon, which will allow the highway to be reopened to two lanes of traffic.
