Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old Waikiki man was arrested in the McCully area early this morning on suspicion of multiple felony offenses after police found him riding a moped that had been reported stolen and then found a shopping bag on the moped filled with identification and charge cards belonging to other people.

Police said a patrol officer stopped the moped rider about 4:50 a.m. on Kapi'olani Boulevard and Wiliwili Street to issue a citation for a traffic offense.

After finding the moped had been reported stolen, the officer arrested the rider on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, police said.

The registered owner was called to the scene to take possession of the moped and found a shopping bag with items inside that did not belong to him, police said.

The moped owner turned the bag over to the officer, who found numerous ID and bank cards not in the moped owner's or suspect's name, police said.

The officer then arrested the man found operating the moped on suspicion of seven counts of unauthorized possession of confidential information and three counts of credit card theft.

Five accused in Kahala robbery

Two juveniles and three women from the 'Ewa Beach area were arrested yesterday morning shortly after two women reported being robbed in the Black Point Road area of Kahala.

The women, ages 26 and 27, who reported the robbery, told police the other women demanded their personal belongings.

Police said a quick response by area patrol officers and the cooperation of the public resulted in the apprehension of the suspects shortly after the robbery was reported.

The three women suspects and the two juveniles who were with them were arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
