Saladin leads Mid-Pac Open by two shots

Chad Saladin shot a 5-under-par 67 today to take a two-shot lead after the first round of the Mid-Pacific Open at Mid-Pac Country Club in Lanikai.

Lance Taketa shot a 69 and is alone in second place, followed by Kevin Carll and Chuck Davis (70) and Casey Nakama (71).

David Ishii, the defending champion, shot a 72 and is two shots behind Davis in the senior flight.

Thomas Kua had the lowest round of the amateurs at 73. Brandon Kop, Casey Watabu, the 2006 Public Links champion who played at this year's Masters, and Paul Kimura are a shot back at 74.

The tournament continues Friday at 6:30 a.m.
