High-surf advisory in effect for eastern shores

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday for the east-facing shores of Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Maui and the Big Island, the National Weather Service said.

Strong trades are continuing to generate rough and choppy surf 6 feet to 8 feet along eastern shores and 3 feet to 6 feet along northern shores.

Surf along western shores will be 1 foot to 3 feet and southern shores will see surf 2 feet to 4 feet.

A moderate northwest swell is expected on Saturday, which will cause surf heights to approach the high-surf advisory threshold along north shores. An even larger west-northwest swell is expected on Monday. A moderate south swell arriving Friday will continue through next Monday.
