Pearl Harbor credit union members targeted in scam

Advertiser Staff

Members and non-members of Pearl Harbor Federal Credit Union are the subject of a new phishing e-mail making its rounds.

The bogus e-mail tells people their online account has expired. A link contained in the message takes people to a Web page that appears to be the credit union's but asks for debit card information. Pearl Harbor Credit Union is warning people not to click on the link or respond to the e-mails.

Credit union members in Hawai'i have been the subject of a number of phishing e-mails that thieves use to gain personal information that they can use to empty bank accounts or use credit cards. The credit unions and local banks warn people not to respond to any unsolicited e-mails that ask them for this information.
