Three U.S. soldiers killed in bombings, shootings

Three U.S. soldiers died in two separate bombing and shooting attacks in Iraq, the military said.

Two Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldiers were killed and another was wounded when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle yesterday north of the capital, the U.S. military said today in an e-mailed statement.

Another soldier was killed yesterday in a small-arms fire attack on a patrol in southwest Baghdad, the military said in a separate statement.

They Defense Department has not released where the soldiers deployed from yet.

A total of 2,691 U.S. service members had been killed in action since the March 2003 invasion as of yesterday, according to the Department of Defense Web site. The number of deaths including those from other causes was 3,309. More than 24,000 have been wounded, 11,064 of them so seriously they couldn't return to duty.
