Big Island police searching for robber

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in identifying the person who robbed a Puna man at midnight Thursday in Kailua, Kona.

The 21-year-old victim reported that he was approached by a female acquaintance and three male companions in a parking lot at Kuakini Highway and Hualalai Road. One of the men punched him in the body and head and took $220 in cash.

The suspect is described as about 19 or 20. He was wearing a red baseball cap and white T-shirt.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective Sharlotte Bird at (808) 326-4646, ext. 268, or the Police Department's nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311.
