Red Cross volunteers head east for storm relief efforts

Advertiser Staff

Five volunteers from the Hawaii State Chapter are deploying to the Northeast to join the American Red Cross relief effort in response to the powerful nor'easter that swept across the Mid-Atlantic and New England states last Sunday.

The storm left heavy snow, extensive flooding and widespread power outages in its wake. The volunteers are coming from three counties — Hawai'i, Maui and O'ahu — and are being sent to relief operations in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and New Hampshire, a Red Cross news release said.

They will support various aspects of the relief operation such as working with affected families to provide emergency assistance, and providing logistical and technical support.
