HPU, UH-Hilo split baseball doubleheader

Jason Shimizu allowed three hits in seven strong innings and Hawaii Pacific beat Hawaii-Hilo, 4-1, yesterday in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at Francis Wong Stadium in Hilo.

Shimizu (7-2) struck out four and faced just three batters over the minimum. Michael Kealoha, Tripper Chung and Johnny Gentry had one RBI apiece for the Sea Warriors (21-24).

In the second game, A.J. Satele's two-run single broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning as Hawaii-Hilo beat Hawaii Pacific, 5-3.

Satele finished 3-for-3. Lars Knepper (3-6) allowed three runs, one earned, in seven innings to earn the win for the Vulcans (12-28).
